St1 Nordic Oy is an energy group whose vision is to be the leading producer and seller of CO2-aware energy. Strategically positioning itself as a provider of EV charging infrastructure, St1 has been operating a retail EV charging network , and builds on its network of St1 and Shell branded (under license) retail service stations at attractive locations with a variety of onsite services such as shops, convenience stores, restaurants and car washes to serve the needs of people on the go. Some stations even offer a playground, training area, and a dog park. Starting in Norway, where it continues to grow, the company invested in a network of High-Performance Charging (HPC) stations at highway and metropolitan areas and is now also spreading rapidly through Sweden and Finland.
St1 needed an EV charging platform that would support its growth strategy while providing EV drivers with a similar experience to that of ICE vehicles, making EV charging and payments convenient and easy. “Our stations are destinations in their own right, and they are located where drivers already expect to make refueling stops,” said Oscar Sandström, Director of Strategy and Energy Transition at St1. “To build an EV charging business that consistently delivers the same level of service that our traditional fueling customers enjoy, we needed a robust, flexible back-end system.”
