Duracell E-Charge is an ultra-fast EV charging network operating under license from Duracell. The network aims to deliver a reliable and highly visible public charging experience across strategic roadside, retail, and transit locations throughout the UK. Developed and funded by The EV Network, with more than £200 million in planned investment, Duracell E-Charge is targeting more than 100 sites and over 500 charge points across the UK by 2030 to secure a top five position in the UK CPO rankings.
To achieve that scale while protecting the Duracell reputation for reliability, the company needed an enterprise-grade software platform capable of supporting rapid expansion while maintaining operational excellence to deliver a consistent user experience.
As Duracell E-Charge prepared to launch, the company faced a major challenge: building a national ultra-rapid charging network that could scale quickly without creating operational complexity. The team needed more than a traditional back-office platform. They required infrastructure-grade software that could support high utilization, 300 kW+ charging hubs, complex tariffs, roaming, and multi-site deployments from day one.
Commercial visibility was equally important. As a data-driven, investor-backed business, Duracell E-Charge needed accurate session data, transparent settlements, real-time reporting, and clean APIs to maintain financial control and protect margins. Immediate roaming capability through reliable OCPI integrations was also key to driving early utilization and revenue while the Duracell E-Charge brand established its own customer base.
At the same time, the company needed smart energy optimization to manage grid constraints and peak-demand exposure, while delivering the high uptime, seamless payments, and frictionless customer experience expected of the Duracell brand.
After evaluating several EMSP and CPO platforms, Driivz was chosen to provide a unified EV charging and energy management platform for the network. The decision was driven by Driivz’s ability to combine operational scalability, commercial visibility, roaming capabilities, energy optimization, and driver experience management within a single platform.
Duracell E-Charge deployed Driivz’s EV Charging operations management, EV charging billing, driver self-service app and portal, and analytics capabilities. The platform enables real-time charger monitoring, remote diagnostics, proactive issue resolution through self-healing capabilities, accurate billing, transparent settlements, and advanced reporting.
Driivz’s mature OCPI roaming functionality also enables Duracell E-Charge to increase network utilization and accelerate revenue generation from launch. Meanwhile, smart load management helps optimize constrained grid capacity and supports profitable network growth as deployment scales nationwide.
By adopting Driivz, Duracell E-Charge positioned itself to scale faster while maintaining operational control, financial visibility, and a consistent driver experience across the network. The unified platform simplifies integration across hardware, payments, roaming, and back-office systems, lowering long-term operational risk and avoiding the inefficiencies that often emerge when networks rely on fragmented technologies.
The platform also enables faster site onboarding, simpler tariff configuration, and faster roaming activation, helping reduce time to revenue as new ultra-rapid hubs come online. Smart load management and energy oversight protect margins by maximizing grid capacity and reducing peak exposure.
Most importantly, Driivz helps Duracell E-Charge maintain the reliability standards associated with the Duracell brand through high uptime, remote diagnostics, and proactive operational monitoring.
