Overview

OBE Power owns and operates an integrated ecosystem of electric vehicle services for site hosts, EV drivers and related stakeholders across the southern region of the U.S., including a leading private network of smart, distributed electric vehicle chargers. Based in Miami, the company provides a smart EV charging solutions where EV drivers live, work and play.

OBE Power provides an owner-operated Electric Vehicle Charging-as-a-Service (EVCaaS) business model for host customers and charge point operators (CPOs), that enables cross-platform integration, fleet operations and Vehicle to Grid (V2G) connectivity. OBE Power’s offering is at no upfront cost to host customers, while providing conveniently located charging locations for their hosts’ residents, tenants, employees, fleet managers and customers. OBE Power is dedicated to the mission of satisfying EV drivers’ evolving charging needs by providing a seamless EV charging solution. Ultimately, the company is building a virtual distributed power plant based on EV batteries and charging assets.

Company Challenges

When OBE Power first started their EV charging network, they faced many challenges in their transition to eMobility.

“One of our biggest challenges was the need to combine hardware and technology from different vendors and to integrate various software and data points,” said Alejandro Burgana, OBE Power co-founder and managing director. “It was a logistical nightmare, and our first experience trying to develop our own technology platform failed.”

“Our charging stations are deployed at highly convenient, urban locations where people live, work, play and learn. Access to a conveniently located and reliable charging network is one of the most important challenges we needed to overcome,” he said.

To overcome these obstacles, OBE Power required a single, end-to-end EV charging and smart energy management solution.
